Walk and run with Miss Daisy

We had 2 weeks with  Sydney Paudua to do some quadruped animation (meaning animation 4 legged animals) and it was wonderful. We had to make a walk cycle, runcycle and later combine the two with some performance. I went a little bit cartoony with the run and I had fun doing the simple performance take.

The Roberto Challenge

I haven't really updated my speedpaints challenges here yet but i want to do it in the future. For now here is a few chosen pics of my progress in the first 2 months of daily painting.

This is the very first try i did:

And the rest..
I am going to keep doing this, since it's much fun and I have been improving alot since the beginning. If you want, follow us at  http://robertochallenge.tumblr.com/ for some daily speedpaints.

Animating with Hogan

After Lux we got introduced to Hogan, a charming robotic fellow. Since he is a bit more advanced, we started out with some basic excersizes. I was scared in the beginning but after getting more comfortable with Maya and and figure out graphs so everything here is a mix of experimentation and strict following orders kinda scenario.

Our Maya introductionteacher Erik Schmidt really tried to emphasy on preformance even though we did basic excersize, which really helped alot and also made us better animators, than just learning a new tool.

Here I focused on how to study and use video reference in to my own animation.
The walk and run were strict from a recipe in order to learn the curves in the graph editor and also know the run/walk by heart for later use.

Luxo

We finally moved on to moving a more advanced character, the infamous Luxo.

This was also an introduction to ik and fk rigs so we had both a wallkcycle (not uploaded yet)  and a hop, stop and take scene

I really like this pierce so i went back to it later to polish it up a bit, I tried to experiment the visual with only doing stepped (no generated inbetween's) just to find my own taste.

Ball assignments in Maya

I finally started to animate in Maya. Here are some ball assignments I made in the first couple of weeks.

Summer sketches with watercolor

I found some old summer sketches, watercolor experiments and some newer stuff. I have since moved over to use more colors since i started The Roberto Challenge (30 min speed painting everyday) I plan to make a pierce showing my process of my speed painting, but i will save it for later. Enjoy some scribbles!

Trailer project 2D animatic

An animatic I helped create for our groups trailer project of the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid with a Madmax touch.

Monster shopping

A Summer illustration with some help from Michelle Tolo. Trying to switch approach and also try to work a bit with color.

Introduction to maya and summer projects

Before the holidays, we were introduced to maya for 3 days and in the time, i managed to make this illustration. I am pretty happy with it, considering i had never used the program and the result nearly matched with what i had in mind.

I'm planning to learn a lot more maya before starting again while also doing my own personal projects. This one is supposed to be an illustration for my sisters frontpage in her big exam comming up. Its about the correlation between depression and Alzheimers for elders, and how they effect each others. I plan to do a few more of this kind of stuff since it was fun and there is room for much more exploration.

Sketching in Berlin

This summer I was in Berlin with my good friends Ben Ozeri and Corentin Monnier and met a lot of wonderful people. It was a really fun trip and i also got to sketch alot! I managed to use a whole sketchbook. I mostly draw people and whatever comes to my mind at the time and here are some of it. Enjoy!
