1st year midyear test - The Pink Panther

The result of my midyear exam in my 1st year of character animation in The Animation Workshop.

We were given a story board and a animation limit (75 frames) which we had 3 days to do . The description of the action was:

-The pink panther stands ready to catch a ball
-He catches it mid air.
- Falls to the ground with the ball in his hand.

It was fun and shows how much i improved just the past few weeks. There is a lot that could be better but I am pretty satisfied with my effort.

Animation with Mike Nguyen

In these two weeks, I have been having an inspirational breakthrough with the fantastic Mike Nguyen.

The 1st week we did a nondialog acting animation, in this case our good friend Tony from Lady and the Tramp, waiting for a date. Subtlety is the key!

The 2nd week we had to do a dance animation. I switched approach and tried the way Mike was animating, which is more straight ahead than pose to pose. It was really fun and for once it  felt more like animating than making drawings that will later seem like motion. I feel that I improved alot in such a short time and i cant wait to do some animation in my winter break.

1st semester showreel

I have made a showreel showing most of the stuff i did in my 1st semester plus a bunch of stuff from the start of the second as well. I havent updated my blog with all the material but now you have it in a video form with some nice music. Enjoy!
