Update and new page design

It's been rather quite on the blog but I have been very busy working on my bachelor film (go check it out, its gonna be great! http://shepherdfilm.tumblr.com/ )  and preparing my internship showreel.

I also decided to redesign the site to be more proffessional, hope you all like it :)
In the future, i want to make a tumblr for my sketches and silly stuff but i will still keep this as my main page of my artistic adventures.

Kitty and Dog

Some fast sketches i painted with watercolor over the holidays

Longstudies - The Drawing Academy

I found in my old admission portfolio for The Animation Workshop some of my old longstudies and crouquis  back when I was drawing classical. I haven't posted it yet in this blog so here ya go!

Filmschool in Copenhagen

2 very quick reverse octopus animations I did at my stay at the danish filmschool.

3rd +4th semester showreel

A bit late upload but here is my 4th semester showreel  plus some mandatory 3rd semester stuff as well we had to put in. I got a lot of work to do for a great showreel but until then, enjoy!

Gesture and Crouqie

I am finally done with second year, moving on to my Bachelor year, were I will be a part of an awesome team making the short "The Shepherd". Very exciting stuff!
So to celebrate i collected some of my short gesture drawings over the 2 years and I will be looking forward for a more drawing intense year to come

Final 2nd year exam

We had one week to do a monologue. No props, no nothing. I had to change my workflow for this one and i learned alot. I look forward to see the critique coming up.

Interaction with Ethan Hurd

Our last school assignment was character interaction with Ethan Hurd. Great weeks with great people. We even started with another weight short exercise. Enjoy!

Dialouge

We had Mike Polvani to help us out with our first dialogue. Its far from finished and i may return to it later

Project Quadruped - The Scandinavian Wildebeast

Project Quadruped - design and animate a fourlegged animal in a realistic envioment/render
I worked with Anne Birk and Kasper Christensen with the design while I animated these two shots. The project is aimed at realism so it was a really exciting and tough challenge.

This shot was a warm up - a 1 day assigment

A standard walkcycle of our creature - main inspiration was from a bison

The final animation

Commercial Project - Holy Hell

After a story workshop and a prepitch for our bachelors we had a week to work make a short film of someone giving someone something. We filmed the whole thing in a cozy afternoon and we had a lot of fun with it.
Next up is the commercial project which I am not allowed to post before this Autum so you will have to wait and see
Many thanks to my teammates; William Mackenzie, Kat 'Buru' Gusarova, Emilie Stabell, Morten Lund, Sara Fenya Aunbirk and Ben Ozeri

Bouncing training

I wanted to mess around with tv paint again so decided to do a quick exercise.

Roberto Challenge - Ghosts, Spacechicks and Robin Hood

To recap, I dont post every Roberto Challenge here but I found this week to have 3 interesting pierces to share:

Haunted Hospital

I always like suprises. This was one of them.

Sexy Future
Tried to use different brushes in one pierce and also I am lately trying to push my shapes.

Future Robin Hood

In the Future, Robin Hood teams up with his trusty friend, Tiny J0h-n.
I took the 30 min version and improved it.

3rd Semester Showreel

Here is a showreel i made consisting most of what i have done in my 3rd semester at The Animation Workshop.
Enjoy!

Midway exam - 2nd year

I just had my mid way exam and 3rd semester is officially over. The exam is a week long process were we had a scenario which we can give our own story which affects the acting choices.
This shot is about a guy who has watched too many action movies and decides to get fulfill his dream and become a burglar. Unfortunately there is an angry guard dog waiting for him in the house.
Now I can only wait for the censor to give his critique and see how well it went.
Enjoy!

Trailer Project online!

Our trailer project is finally online!
I did some of the animation and an animatic

And here is the final version in glorious colors! It was made by our team of animators; Marylou Mao, Johanna Hagström, Sofie Emilie Kaas-Larsen, myself and mostly by our computer graphic artists; Martin Baadsgaard, Michelle Erdmann, Morten Lund, Camilla Anderson  Enjoy!

Roberto Challenge: Super powers and dragons!

I don't post all of my Roberto Challenges on this blog but recently I have been able to produce stuff that surprised me and I am genuinely pleased with. These two challenges i finally managed to consider lighting and in these cases multiple lighting sources.

Superhero/villain:
We used a random superhero power generator for this challenge. Mine was - "Able to control electricity and turn in to gas" - Meet Captain Thundercloud"

Taming a dragon!
I never usually do dragons but I can see why people love to make these beasts.

Pantomime shot with Alex Williams

This week we had Alex Williams guiding us through our pantomime assignment. He really emphasized on good planning" and creating a convincing shot that explains you intentions, which include making an environment as well (I imported mine from Turbosquid). I used the appealing 11 second rig in this shot, which was a new and refreshing experience.
I wanted to create something simple and fun, which I would be able to polish before deadline. It was great fun, and it's probably my most complete maya animation so far.

Enjoy!

Roberto Challenge: The Birdeater

My latest Roberto Challenge with the theme : Birdeater.

I was pretty happy with my 30 min and tried for fun to paint a bit more after the challenge. I was really surprised with the outcome and I will definitely try to experiment after the 30 min mark again.

Comparison shot:

Final result standalone:

More challenges here: http://robertochallenge.tumblr.com/

Roberto Challenge: Geisha's and Hobot's

So the two last Roberto Challenges went pretty interesting:

Theme: Robo Hobo - I had this design in mind when i made the theme and it was really fun, he turned out to be a pretty neat character. This guy could potentially be remade in a darker environment in a fitting background if i decided to have another go.

Geisha gone wild:
Was surprised how well the composition went with this one  and how refined it looks for a 30 min painting in my level. This would be a neat sketch if i decide to go full digital painting for a portfolio.

Action shot

Just after the trailer project we had Magnus Møller to help us out with an action shot. Since we only had 1 week, I decided to make it short but more polished in order to get the most out of it. I like the result and would later like to animate more from the beginning.

Warm up with Alex Williams

This week and the next, we work on the Pantomime shot and as a warm up we had to make a short reaction shot with Monty, a free rig by Raveen Rajadorai, and we only had 3-4 hours to do it. It's a good way to start up again with Maya and I am looking forward for the next big assignment!

Project Q - Design

3 very exciting days with creature design and anatomy with Sydney Pauda and Brynn Metheney! This is the result, drawn by Anne Birk, of our stampeding monster which Kasper Christensen will transform in to a realistic creature. Anne and I will  later be animating it in a realistic location. Very excited to play around with this guy!

Xmas sketching

The holiday was nice and so much needed but i still managed to make some sketches, some for fun others for  brainstorming design for the coming quadruped vfx shot (Animate and design a 4 legged animal in a realistic environment) . Hope you all had a happy new year and a merry x-mas!
